Ahead Of Liverpool Face-off Tonight See What Harry Redknapp Wishes Tottenham

Redknapp insists his old club have the best first XI in the top flight but feels the gap to leaders Chelsea is just too big to make up.

Tottenham face Liverpool today with a chance to move within six points of the Blues before Antonio Conte’s men play on Sunday.

But he fancies Spurs to slip up on Merseyside – even though he believes the Reds will finish outside the top four this season.

Redknapp said: “This is a better Tottenham team than the one I had. When they’ve got their best XI out I think it’s the best team in the Premier League.

“I’d put them above Chelsea, when they’ve got their best XI. I wouldn’t swap their starting XI for Chelsea’s.

“If I put them both down I’d weigh it heavy in Tottenham’s favour, but I backed Chelsea at the start of the year and I don’t think they (Spurs) will win this weekend.”

Redknapp has been impressed by the way Conte has turned Chelsea’s season around after a rocky start.

“They had a couple of beltings and Conte changed the way they played,” said BT Sport’s football expert Harry Redknapp.

“It suits those players – playing with wingbacks it’s given them a lifeline.

“But if you take the two full backs they wouldn’t get in the team if you played a back four in one of your better teams. They wouldn’t get anywhere near it.

“Tottenham have had injuries to key players, losing the centre-half, Toby Alderweireld, for a long spell was a massive blow to them.

“Harry Kane was missing, Danny Rose is out now and Jan Vertonghen’s out again. But the centre-halves I wouldn’t swap for Chelsea’s defenders, or the two full backs.
