Gov. Wike Approves Rivers United Spain Pre-Caf Champions League Tour

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced that Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt will prepare for next year’s CAF Champions League under the guidance of Real Madrid of Spain.
He announced a reward of N1million for the Rivers United Chief Coach, Stanley Eguma and N500,000 each for other management staff and players.

Speaking during a special dinner for the management and players of Rivers United at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday night, Governor Wike said that the club will be supported to win the CAF Champions league next year.
He recalled that in just seven months the club has grown to be a force in the nation’s football family following its exploits.
The governor commended the management and players of the club for doing the state proud in the course of the 2015/2016 football season.
He said looking at the league table, Rivers State came first and second position because the tactician of Enugu Rangers, ‎Imama Amapakabo is a proud indigenes of the state.

Governor Wike also donated a luxury bus to Rivers United and a coaster bus to the supporters club.
He said that the merger of Sharks and Dolphin Football Clubs was a worthwhile decision that has united football fans across the state.
In his address, Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Mr Boma Iyaye noted that the club was successful because of the support it received all through the season from Governor Wike.
He assured the governor that the club will lift the 2017 CAF Champions League in honour of the governor’s investment in the development of sports.

Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka, Former Green Eagles Captain and Chairman of the Committee that recommended the merger of Sharks and Dolphin Football Clubs to form Rivers United, lauded Governor Wike for taking Rivers football to the next level.
Highpoint of the event included : the presentation of awards to Governor Wike by Rivers United and her supporters, presentation of awards to deserving players and performance by the Rivers United Supporters Club.
