The minister for transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has joined other Nigerians in condemning the embarrassing comment credited to the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu. The minister said he was really ashamed when he read negative comments on BBC about the gaffe made by Shehu.
“If I were president Buhari, I would have fired him immediately for such embarrassing statement” he said, “must he comment on everything?” he further lamented.
Amaechi made this remark while hosting members of INCRA who made paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Wednesday, 23 August, 2017. A member of the group who disclosed this to Blue News said the minister made them to understand that the president is angry with the demeaning and humiliating comment from his own media aide.
Recall that, Garba Shehu told news men that the president will be working from home because rats have eaten the furniture and AC in his office, a ridiculous statement that has put the government and the entire country into monumental shame on the foreign scene.
