Journalists Intensively Injured As National Assembly Is Invaded (Photos)

Just after a National  Assembly Session marking Venezuela’s Independence Day on Wednesday July 5th, about a hundred government supporters have been reported to have stormed into the opposition-controlled National Assembly, where they beat up several lawmakers, leaving them with intensive injuries.

According witnesses, several journalists, and two assembly staff were badly injured.

Meanwhile, the U.S. state department has condemned the violence, calling it “an assault on the democratic principles cherished by the men and women who struggled for Venezuela’s independence 206 years ago today”.
