Ahead of today’s judgements by the Supreme Court in the Kogi State governorship election appeals, we gather that security has been beefed up around the Supreme Court premises in Abuja. The apex court will today deliver judgement on various appeals challenging the election of the governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello.
This is coming just as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has deployed over 1, 000 personnel to maintain peace in Kogi.
While two of the appeals were filed by a former governor of the state, Idris Wada and the former deputy governor candidate of the App Progressives Congress, APC, James Falake.
Recall the election held on November 21, 2015 and the re-run told place on Decemver 5, 2015.
Also the Labour Party candidate during the election is among those pending in the supreme court.
We will bring you updates as they unfold.
