This was disclosed in a statement by his family. He is said to have died in a US hospital in the early hours of Tuesday.
His death comes about five weeks after Felix, his brother, was buried.
He was a successful businessman with only a school certificate to his name. He also delved into politics in the 80s. He contested in the 1983 governorship election of the old Bendel state.
He lost to Samuel Ogbemudia.
The speaker of the Delta state house of assembly Monday Igbuya, has condoled with the Ibru family.
He described the deceased thus:
“Olorogun Micheal Ibru was a shrewd businessman with a good heart,” in a statement issued on Igbuya’s behalf by Henry Ebireri, his spokesman.
“Olorogun Michael Ibru is an international businessman, philanthropist, educator, a lover of children, grassroot organizer and community leader who gained the respect, trust and love of the country. He will be greatly missed.” He was 86
