Re: Campaign Of Calumny By One Allwell Amewhule Egbula Against Rumuokwurusi Youth Association President- Comrade Henry Ralph Amadi.
The President of Rumuokwurusi Youth Association (RYA), Comrade Henry Amadi has described as mendacious and misleading a purported petition written by one Comrade Allwell Amewhule Egbula allegeding a threat to his life, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace amongst others against him.
He submitted that the said petition which was signed on Comrade Egbula’s behalf by C.A. Chukwundah Esq of Egbuchelem Worlu and Co.is not only a cheap blackmail but a campaign intended to sully and impugn on his character and reputation.
Allwell Amewhule Egbula also alluded to the expiration of the tenure of the RYA President and his failure to constitute an Electoral Committee to oversee the conduct of RYA Elections and engender a smooth transition.
Suffice it to say that there is a subsisting Court Order by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Bori which was presided over by Chief Magistrate S D.Andrew- Jaja in Suit no: OMC/2.MISC/2020 between one Chima Chiorlu,Nyebuchi C.Wali ( Applicants ) ,Henry Ralph Amadi, President of RYA, representing himself and members of the the Association and registered trustees of RYA ( Respondents) which has not been vacated by another Court of competent jurisdiction thereof.
Chief Magistrate S.D Andrew- Jaja had ordered that the resolution of Rumuokwurusi Youth Association ( RYA) on August 3,2019 and 2nd respondent’s resolution on August 12,2019 are valid and Iawful.
The Court also affirmed that the tenure of the 1st respondent shall expire on August 2,2021in line with the resolution of the Congress as well as the resolution of the 2nd respondent.
The Court further directed the 1st respondent to adhere to the resolution of the 2nd respondent on August 12,2019 and that of the general Congress of RYA on August 3,2019.
The questions begging for answers are:
In veiw of the COVID 19 pandemic, can there in all honesty be a Youth Election in the prevailing circumstance?
Assuming without conceding that Elections are to hold, wouldn’t it run foul of the Executive Order on COVID19 pandemic signed by His Excellency Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on public gatherings?
On the flip side, how do we meet Rivers State Goverment directives on Youth Elections given the times we are in.
Also, what measures are in place to maintain and comply with relevant advisories on the COVID 19 pandemic to protect our people if we are to jump into elections as is bandied about?
Comrade Henry Amadi therefore, urged Allwell Amewhule Egbula and all interested parties in the matter to respect the decision of the Court, continue to keep the peace in Rumuokwurusi community, work for its progress and desist from embarking on campaigns of calumny against his person and office.
