Police in Durban, South Africa found a human head without its body in a back pack on Friday.
A South African website, IOL, reported that two men have been questioned with only one arrested in connection with the discovery.
It was alleged that one man was attempting to sell the head to another, who is a Sangoma (herbalist) for ritual use.
“It is not clear who tipped off the police, but both (men) were arrested before the sale could take place,” the site reported.
Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane of Durban police revealed that officers are still trying to establish a full picture of what happened.
“More arrests are imminent as the suspect has promised to shed more light on the ordeal. For now, he is the only one who has been arrested and charged with murder,” he told News24 said.
Times Live, another South African website reported that the police found a headless body in Mayville several hours later‚ and are now investigating the potential connection between the cases.
“The body of a man with no head was found at Mayville area now. It is suspected that the head is the same one that was found this morning at Durban CDB area‚” Zwane told Times Live.
“A murder case will be opened at Cato Manor police station. One suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of the head.”
